Building quietly: chaos, code, and a sparkle of AI ✨
I'm Ahmed. I've been shipping software end to end since 2018 - mostly TypeScript and GraphQL, and for the last two years, agents and LLM systems. I lead the engineering behind Oro at Tomorro, an AI legal agent that lawyers trust with real contracts, which is a much higher bar than a demo.
What I care about: making the machine boring. Deterministic services owning the business logic, an audit trail on every AI action, interfaces that don't need explaining. I build my own products on the side too, which keeps me honest about what actually ships and what only looks good on a diagram.
What I'm doing now
Leading a team of two on Oro at Tomorro - agent architecture, retrieval across contract repositories, and the streaming chat experience around it.
Building Lea at Leafine Labs, a side project developing an AI agent for e-commerce merchants.
Writing at devtale about the things that actually cost me time.
Where I've worked
Senior Software Engineer, Tomorro
Oro is the AI legal agent behind Tomorro - drafting, review, research and analysis for legal counsels, attorneys and executives. I lead a team of two on it: technical direction, scoping, review and delivery.
Designed the agent architecture: LLM orchestration with tool calling, durable multi-step workflows that suspend and resume for human validation, and deterministic services that own every piece of business logic.
Built retrieval across entire contract repositories - semantic and structured search that returns sourced, citable answers rather than confident guesses.
Automated clause review, risk detection and data extraction on typed document schemas, so the output renders deterministically instead of being re-improvised each run.
Made streaming feel solid end to end: token streaming, tool-call rendering, throttled UI updates, resumable runs.
Multi-tenant isolation through request context, a full audit trail on every AI action, EU-hosted models for GDPR and the AI Act.
Four years on the contract management platform itself - the thing legal, sales, finance and HR teams live in to draft, negotiate, sign and track contracts at scale.
Worked across the full stack: approval workflows, the contract generation engine, native e-signature, CRM and ERP integrations.
Owned the AI and productivity modules, including the first version of Oro.
Analytics, reporting and e-learning for options traders. My first time owning the technical direction rather than a slice of it.
Chose the stack, designed the modular React component library, built the REST APIs and set up an API gateway.
The product had to work for beginners and experienced traders at once, which drove most of the interface decisions.

Lead Developer, Oyez
Marketing-as-a-service for retail and mass distribution. Picked the backend tooling, shaped the architecture, and spent a good share of my time on code review and mentoring.
An AI agent for French D2C and Shopify merchants: customer support, marketing and the operational work nobody wants to do twice. My own lab, and the reason I know what a durable workflow costs to run in production. Have a look →
